Gideon Tax — TruckerEspañol

File Form 2290

Tax period: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027

Taxpayer information

What kind of return is this?

When were these vehicles first used on public highways?

Pick the month the vehicles were first used during this tax period. July first-use owes the full annual tax; any later month uses the IRS partial-period table.

Vehicles

Add every taxable heavy vehicle you own that was used during this tax period. Each vehicle needs its 17-character VIN and a weight category.

#1

Estimated total tax: $100.00

Mileage exemptions

Check the box that applies. These suspend the tax for any Category W vehicle you listed above.

How will you pay the IRS?

This is how you pay the IRS tax above — separate from Gideon's filing fee. Pick whichever is easiest for you.

Did you pay tax on a vehicle in a prior period expecting it to go over the mileage use limit, but it stayed under?

If a vehicle you reported as taxable in an earlier period was actually driven 5,000 miles or less (7,500 for agricultural), the tax was overpaid. We can apply it as a credit here (Line 5) as long as it does not exceed your total tax (Line 4); otherwise the refund must be claimed on Form 8849.

Signature

Sign electronically with a 5-digit PIN (Self-Select PIN / Practitioner PIN method)

Supporting statements

Add these only if they apply to your return. Each one is attached to your filing as an IRS supporting statement.

Credit details (disposed, sold, or destroyed vehicles)

List each vehicle the Line 5 credit covers — sold, destroyed, stolen, or used 5,000 miles or less. The amounts here support the lump-sum credit you entered above.

Enter a Line 5 credit amount above (Tax credits) to add supporting credit details.

Taxable gross weight increase (Line 3 worksheet)

Use this only if a vehicle's taxable gross weight increased during the period, moving it into a higher category. Pick the previous and new categories and the month the weight increased — the additional tax is computed for you and summed onto Line 3 of your return.

Each weight-increase vehicle here (Line 3) must use the same first-used month as your Line 2 vehicles, within this tax period — and the two lists must not overlap: a VIN reported on Line 2 must not also appear as a Line 3 weight increase, and vice versa.

Suspension support

Optional statements in support of suspended (Category W) vehicles — for example, a vehicle whose suspension carries over from a prior period because it was driven within the mileage limit.

Prior-period suspended vehicles (Part II)

For vehicles reported as suspended on a return for the prior period (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026).

Suspended VINs (Line 8b)

Optional. List the VINs of vehicles reported as suspended on a prior-period return that are still suspended. Listing any here makes the Line 8a declaration that those prior-period vehicles were not subject to tax.

Sold/transferred suspended vehicles (Line 9)

Optional. If you sold or transferred a suspended vehicle during the period, give the buyer's name and address and the VIN.

Optional details

These sections are optional. Filling them in helps suppress IRS alerts and lets us file without follow-up questions.

Signing officer (suppresses IRS alerts R0000-222 / R0000-223)

The individual signing the return. Required when filing on behalf of a business entity.

Business officer ("Sign Here" block)

The officer signing on Form 2290. Enter your own 5-digit PIN to sign yourself (the Practitioner PIN method), or leave it blank and Gideon Tax will assign and enter a PIN as your signature on your behalf. You confirm this choice on Form 8879-EX at checkout.

Paid preparer

Only fill this in if a paid preparer (not the filer) prepared the return.

Preparer's firm

The paid preparer's firm name, EIN, and address.

Superseding return

Only if this return replaces a prior submission for the same period. Provide that submission's ID and date.

Disaster relief & special conditions

Rarely needed — leave blank unless the IRS directs otherwise.

Direct debit (EFW) bank info

Only needed if you chose direct debit above. The IRS pulls the exact amount from this account when it processes your return.

Gideon Tax service feeCalculating your fee…

This is your e-file fee — it depends on the filing, so the amount shown is exactly what you'll pay at checkout. First-time filings are $5 per truck, capped at $20; returning customers pay far less — $1 per truck, capped at $10, to renew — and VIN corrections are free. Routine, low-risk returns are filed automatically once they clear our checks; anything harder is reviewed and filed by a person — and we deliver your stamped Schedule 1. The IRS tax above is separate and paid to the IRS.
